Decorating a Holiday Home Room

Sometimes room decorating can seem a bit frustrating. You know that you want a new look, but aren't sure where to start. You aren't even sure what style you're going for. There's no need to worry or hire a decorator. You simply need to find a starting point. The following are some of the most common starting points decorators use when designing a room be it a room in a holiday home or just your conventional home.

Bedding. It may sound strange, but bedding is a wonderful starting point for decorating a bedroom. Bedding can be extremely expensive, so it pays to decorate around the bedding. This is also a great tip when trying to design a room on a budget though, because you can search the clearance racks for bedding that is within your budget and then shop for the rest of the items to match. Bedding can also help you determine a style. Spend a few days, or weeks, looking at different designs of bedding until you find one that you love. Then all you have to do is select a color from the bedding and have the paint store match it. Then it's off to accessories. If you want a little variety, choose a bedding set that's reversible. That way you won't grow tired of the look too soon.

Artwork. Art is meant to inspire us and that's why it's the perfect starting point for decorating a room. If you have a piece of art you absolutely love, take your design inspiration from it. The inspiration may come from the style of the painting, the colors or the feelings it invokes. You can then select accessories, paint colors and furniture that pay homage to that beautiful piece of art.

Pictures and Important Keepsakes. There are pictures that take us to a different time and place. These may be some of the happiest moments in our lives. What better starting point when decorating a room? For example, the picture may be of a honeymoon destination, which would be the perfect starting point for the master bedroom. Another option is to choose a favorite keepsake. It might be a piece of jewelry, handmade quilt or even a stone from a memorable hike. All of these items make wonderful starting points. Remember the idea is to get inspired. You room doesn't have to look like a rock, but it can have earth tones and a feeling of peace. Though pictures are meant to be private but, this a way to reach out to your guests. Tell them a little bit of you and your family by sharing pictures and important items and you'll definitely gain their trusts and friendship.

Keeping the room as neat and tidy as possible is the most important part of decorating a room. This is due to the fact that the room is where your guests relax and sleep. And a room that is not properly organize will definitely lessen the chance for your guests to return to your holiday home.
