Lovely Hapuna Beach in Hawaii

When mentioning about Hawaii, the first thing that comes to people minds are beautiful girls dancing to the tune of Hawaiin dance, big waves and of course magnificent beaches. This American state has an abundance of gorgeous beaches that are flocked by millions of tourists every year.
On Hawaii’s big island, one particular beach that standout is the Hapuna Beach. Apart from being one of the widest beach on the island, it is also one of most highly recommended beach when it comes to tourist facilities. As compared to other beaches with volcanic rocks and grainy black sand, Hapuna Beach features, clear light turquoise water and soft white sand. That is the main reason why this beach standout among the other and often in the list of top beaches in the United States.

Hapuna is originally a State Beach Park. Its exquisite landscaped park that surrounds the beach is one of its best feature. Hapuna measures 60 meters wide and stretches up to 800 meters, a “classic” sandy beach. Just like other beaches it is ideal for sunbathing and swimming. Families with children will surely love these beach, mainly because it has picnic areas, lifeguard services and spacious parking lots.

Other facilities such as concession stands, showers and restrooms are all present. If you are traveling to Hapuna with little kids, the north area of the beach is the best route you should be taking. This is because the water in this area is shallow and calm, making it safe for the kids to swim. As compared to the southern part, which is suitable for those who possess “stronger hearts”. This due to the area is surrounded by sea cliffs and thrill seekers love to climb up the cliffs and jump straight into the ocean.

Aside from sunbathing and swimming, snorkeling is one of the most common activity you can do in Hapuna. If you want to try snorkeling, you should head to the rocky south point where the water is calm. If you do have what it takes to swim all the way to Wailea Bay, then you should try it out which is only a mile down the coast. During winter season, surfing is the in thing. This is the time of the year where surfers from all around the world gather to challenge the “Hapuna waves” which can go up to 3 feet high. If you are thinking of going through such waves, think again. It is advisable that if you are not professional you should not take the waves head on. You are better off watching from the shore how the pros strut their stuff.

For accommodation, there are luxury villas and hotels that you can choose from, but I would suggest staying on nipa huts, cottages and holiday homes. This way you can truly enjoy the “Hawaiian Experience”.
